Project Nimbus - Vote for Data and Services that You Want
Tell us what data sets or services you’re looking for… and we’ll go out and try to secure it on behalf of Singapore Innovators! We will go after the top voted items every few weeks.
Be sure to tell us specifically what you need (in detail) and some creative thoughts on how you will use it. That will help us make the pitch better. If we have questions, we’ll ask you right here in the forum.
Check out our site at www.projectnimbus.org.

Places of interest and food
With STB on board this project, probably a somewhat social network like site can be built if we have collected enough info of places of interest (from STB?) and places with good food (voting from the public?)

Historical and up-to-date Swap Offer Rate (SOR) and Singapore Interbank Offer Rate (SIBOR)
I would be great if there is a single comprehensive source for historical and up-to-date SOR and SIBOR data.

Publish Statistics Singapore annual data in open, machine-readable format
Statistics Singapore (http://www.singstat.gov.sg) publishes the core data sets and analysis of economic and demographic measures in line with Government and international standards and requirements.
In addition to informaing public policy, this information is widely used for private sector economic and business analysis and forecasting.
Currently, this information is published in formats that are not readily machine-readable (PDF and an unstructured Excel), and they are also encumbered by copyright.
Because of these limitations, I am sure the use and value derived from all the effort that Statistics Singapore put into the production of the classifications is significantly lower than… more

Open data feed for GeBIZ postings
GeBIZ is the central clearing house for information concerning goverment tenders, and is a vital service for the many businesses that serve the public sector.
Although the information is "public", the website facilities are rudimentary, and it is unlikely and unreasonable to expect that GeBIZ can serve every niche need. My personal experience has been that significant time is wasted by every potential tender respondee in constantly checking and rechecking the GeBIZ site for the latest tender listing or award information.
Rather than ask/expect GeBIZ to "fix it", a much more productive apporach - and one that could stimulate innovations… more

Statistics Singapore to publish machine-readable Statistical Standards and Classifications
Statistics Singapore (http://www.singstat.gov.sg) maintains some important classification standards used in the analysis of economic and demographic data (e.g. industry, occupation, employment classification). It is often desirable to use these classifications in Government-related system development.
Currently, this information is published in formats that are not readily machine-readable (PDF and an unstructured Excel), and they are also encumbered by copyright.
Because of these limitations, I am sure the use and value derived from all the effort that Statistics Singapore put into the production of the classifications is significant;y lower than it could be.
I would suggest to Statistics Singapore that… more
